Registration:

Registration is "day-of" only, meaning you don't give up your hard-earned money until just before your race. We'll let you earn the interest. However, please show up at least 45 minutes early so you can get registered, pin your number on, go to the bathroom, fiddle with your seat, hydrate, warm up, et cetera!

Checks or cash only, please. Checks made out to "Rocket Designs ".

Numbers:

You will be issued a custom CycloCrazed racing number at your first race registration and asked for a $1 deposit. This number can be used for the next race, the next year, or just displayed on your refrigerator, but you will not get your $1 back until you return the number!

Numbers are pinned on your left side, with the numbers upright when you lean over (a lot of people miss this). Don't forget to grab four safety pins at the registration table, or you'll be carrying your number in your teeth.

Licenses:

A special racing license is currently not required for the Cyclocrazed series. Licenses typically help cover insurance costs and supplement a national organizing body, such as USA Cycling. The race directors are not opposed to such affiliations - we are just trying to reduce barriers to entry into our crazy, beautiful sport.

This late in the season, you probably don't want a 2006 license if you don't have one already. We won't make you buy one this year, so we are covering the insurance. However, if you enjoy racing, you might want to look into buying a license next year, as many races require it.

What your entry fee represents:

Our goal is to expand the sport of cyclocross in the Northwest by creating an inviting atmosphere, one that welcomes beginners to the sport of bike racing. We are not in this to make a career off promoting bike races, nor do we care much about drawing in big-name racers or high-profile sponsorships. We want to see more people enjoying themselves on bikes -- simple as that!

We also intend to raise some money for some fantastic & local cycling-related programs, which this year is Whatcom Youth Cycling. We do need to cover equipment, land, and insurance costs, compensate ourselves a tiny bit for many months of work on this project, and save something to grow the series in the future, but the main goal is to have fun and make a difference doing it (or vice versa)!

Therefore, our races will always be as affordable as possible, but not free. This could be the best twenty bucks you spent all year!
